Popular Post Brendon_t
After fishing last night and getting skunked, I came home and decided to lay out the mortise holes for my jewelry box half mortise lock. I ended up turning on a random would talk episode and next thing I knew it was 3 hours later I had sharpened my chisels cut the mortise, install the lock, marked for the receiving latch, cut that mortise and did it all with chisels. I'm not sure if it was the satisfaction of how well it completed the look of the box or the fact that it was all done with chisels but getting it done gave me a huge sense of satisfaction. I can definitely say I was more proud finishing it with hand tools than routing it out. This could be bad. .
Coop
With me, I'm a whole lot more comfortable using a chisel than a router for small stuff like that. Especially after buying a decent set and half a learning how to sharpen them. I can just screw up less with a chisel!
Brendon_t
If I hasn't have made the bone headed mistake of assembling the box first, I would have done the main recess of the mechanism on the router table then finesse with chisels. The one tool I deconstruction could have used is the router plane. .

Coop
Dave, wish you had written this last week before I ordered the MK2. I was looking forward to using this guide but I'm more of a Stones and Beatles fan.
