amateur eric
I have a craftsman circular saw that I've been using for almost all of my cutting so far. It was a gift from my parents. But they don't know a whole awful lot about the nice brands, but it's all I got for now. Once I make a few things and sell them and get more cash, I'll slowly start acquiring better quality tools. Mostly it's been to cut pallet wood to length. Here lately, it hasn't been wanting to cut through the wood, which is only about 1/2" pine. I'll get partway through my cut and the blade just stops spinning, but the saw is still running. And it's been causing burn to the cut as well. Any ideas what the issue may be? Llama
If the blade is not spinning and the motor is, the blade retention nut may be loose. Seems that it's stopping when it gets under load.

wdwerker
Sharp blade will cure that. In the mean time clean your blade. If you don't have any blade cleaner many strong household cleaners will do the job. An old toothbrush works well.
wtnhighlander
Even just a soak in hot water, with a touch of dish detergent, will loosen most pitch buildup so that it scrubs off easily.
