sandvike
Hi guys, i'm starting to design a honey-do shoe storage case. Its a basic case with another stretcher across the bottom as another shelf. The sides would be solid from the floor to the top of the case with the stretcher having two through tenons. I plan to make a small bench rail for the top of it. This leads to my question. I would normally dovetail the top to the sides, however I could just make the rail integral to the sides, this would still leave me with needing a way to attach the back rail. So I have two questions I guess, first, would making a through mortise and tenon top, possibly with a dado to help support the downward pressure be ok if I decide to make the rail integrated w/ the side? Otherwise I could dovetail the top to the side and attach the side and back, I'm worried about just gluing the pieces on though as they will touch in the back corners, and the sides would end up being glued across the grain. Nails angled in from underneath would probably work too. Thoughts?
