Wayniackc
It is going to be impossible to pick a veneer!! Every time I find one I really like, there are half a dozen other sheets I like just as well. It's like a woodworking Sophie's choice. Beechwood Chip
I guess you're going to have to make a dozen different humidors!
Chris H
I feel your pain. I started with a $15 veneer, and somehow spent over $100 in veneers. It's vicious bait an switch tactic.
Trip
==> I started with a $15 veneer, and somehow spent over $100 in veneers. Your best bet are the 'sample' packs from Certainly Wood... http://www.certainlywood.com/index.cfm They include more then what you'd need for a humidor in about a dozen species. You can pick what you want for the humidor and have enough left over for another ten small projects...

How would you know if there is enough of a single species for a humidor? Knowing my luck, I'd end up just short of doing any one species, or at least the ones I wanted. I should add, the +$100 order was way more than enough for one humidor. I just could not decide!

How would you know if there is enough of a single species for a humidor? I purchased both their domestic and exotic sample packs for $100... For that I received about 25 species of 30" long x 6" wide x 4 slices per species. So for my $100, I could probably build 25 humidors...
bmchan
I ended up with a lot (7 pieces) of redwood burl veneer. More than I will need for this project but the price was reasonable ($58). Then there were the incidentals: Roller Veneer Saw (always wanted one) Glue Total $108.00 Now for the Bruso hinges (gulp).

johncbrownmd
Got the veneer - two different species in two rolls. Maple burl and sapele quilted from Veneer Supplies - not cheap.

The sample packs normally has decent sized pieces in it and have sequential matched packs in there too.
