collinb
Yesterday after work I changed the arbor on my Craftsman (113.298) table saw. Instead of turning it upside down it seemed easier to stand it on the side, propped up on a couple boards. Just popped off the snap ring, tapped out the arbor with a hammer (ratchet extension in between). That took a couple of minutes just tapping enough to make it move a little each tap. Put the new on in with the same approach. Didn't even try to take the housing out. Looked easier to not pull it out. Will try to use it this weekend. TerryMcK
I once saw a guy with a few of his buddies turn an old compact car onto it's side with just an old mattress to protect the door. He needed to remove a wheel bearing and I guess his car jack was caput. When it was rolled back onto it's wheels the only damage was to the mirror. It seemed to work for him but the neighbours were not very impressed! So I don't see a problem turning a TC on it's side for maintenance.
