Popular Post Coop
My Jet drum sander out feed side has a 3/4" gap between the roller feed belt and the extension table. Yesterday I was sanding a 10" wide board and I was holding the board down with my left hand close to the drum to help prevent snipe and my right hand was on the end of the board fingers over the edge, supporting it. As it got to this "gap" my fingers went down a tad, into the gap. Luckily I was able to yank my hand back, before the board sheared off the tips of my fingers. And as the outfeed table is non adjustable, this will always be a problem. Scared the s%*t out of me. New respect for an otherwise safe machine!
Brendon_t
You came here to whine without a single gorey picture of finger removed? Bad form Texas. . I've made the mistake of bringing my knuckle too close to the drum while running the little eraser thing. By too close, I mean leaving a skin colored streak where my skin used to be. ..Kev
Even the most (seemingly) safe machines can be dangerous especially where moving parts are involved.
Coop
Think about it. Your hand is stuck and this frighin board is coming up your hand , removing what it damn well pleases, and you have no option but to let it! I'm calling Jet, then OSHA
Brendon_t
Crazy thing is, I've heard about this a few times already. Seems a major oversight.
