Popular Post BeautysBeast
I have had very limited success with finding wood on craigslist. The 500 bdft of Cherry was a once in a lifetime deal. Recently I found two 16 inch wide, 6 1/2 foot trunks of walnut. If I did the math correctly, measuring out what I could square up, it came to roughly 160 bdft. I paid 80 dollars. I found a local tree service that also does milling, He charged me 35 dollars to mill it into 4/4 slabs. So all in, im at 115.00 dollars for 160 bdft of walnut. It is now stickered, stacked, and the ends are painted. It is sitting in my garage in Kenosha, but will be transported down to Tennessee over the next couple of trips. I will sticker, and stack in the house down there. I weighted it down after I took the picture. Added pictures, because without them, it didn't happen. Popular Post BeautysBeast
I have a 5 bedroom house to furnish. Currently working on night stands out of Cherry, with walnut faces on the drawers. Next will be a TV console for the bedroom, also Cherry and Walnut. 2 Night stands, a sofa table, and finally a bed. Unfortunately I only get about 5 days a month to be in TN, where my shop is, and I have to share that time with the Mrs. (She is certainly worth it, she does let me store all my wood in the house after all.)
Brendon_t
Nice find. $35 to slice it up is a great deal. Going rate by me is $100/hour
collinb
If only your transport trip would take you through Columbus, I'd ask/pay you to bring me some fresh curds. (Assuming you wouldn't eat them on the way.)

Infinity Tools
Nice! I would make sure to keep the stickers vertically in line with each other, then ratchet strap the bundles. Then you can readjust tension as the wood dries. Should work better than gravity at keeping the stacks flat. make sure to have airflow. through the stacks. You might think about adding 2 more stickers per layer and setting the end stickers about 3 inches in from the end of the boards. all that might be overkill but for the little bit of work it can't hurt.
BeautysBeast
I have already painted the ends. I will restack it all when I get it down in TN. I was thinking about using ratchet straps, instead of weighting it down, like it is now. Im going to be putting it in the house, where the humidity is controlled. Im not in a big enough hurry to incur the added cost of kiln drying. I can wait.
