mtairymd
The goal is to open the box. There isn't any secret panels or buttons to push. The title is a big hint. Do you think you know how to open it? I know it isn't fair since you are not holding the box. However, I've had people spend 30 minutes on it to only leave frustrated. Ok, the following pictures give away the solution. Watching the video is the easiest way to see how it works. I'm only showing top level CAD pictures. I can post all the part dimensions if anyone is interested. Iso View - parts are color coded for reference These section cuts explain the locking mechanism Off to the Build I used 1/2" poplar for all the panels Simple box - one day I will work up to dovetails Glued the pieces together More gluing Nail Blocks (lid and box) Used thicker hardwood for this these Lid Build Renderings Dark cherry stain Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for viewing.

I love puzzle boxes. I brought this one into work and it was fun watching people try to figure it out.

Chet
Neat puzzle. Most of us don't use nails in our projects, but I guess we will have to let you slide on this one.

Coop
This one has been around the block a couple of times. No cuts in the board.

Yep, I attempted to recreate that one. I couldn't get the wood to squish as easy as the one shown by Steve Ramsey. Seamster on Instructables had a different take.
