jkim
Hi, I inherited two gorgeous wood slabs, and want to sell because they've been in storage for months and I can't think of a use for them (would be perfect as benches or coffee tables, but don't have the space). I am wondering 1) if anyone could help identify the wood species and 2) what the going rate would be for these slabs, and 3) what the best way to sell it would be (Craigslist?). Both slabs are roughly 30” (L) x 12” (W) x 3” (D), and both sides are flat and parallel. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Llama
Those aren't slabs, they are cookies. My guess is maple, but I could be way off...
TerryMcK
They look very unstable pieces too. I wouldn't get your hopes up too high nor expect much money for them. They are cross cut slabs across the trunk. No amount of filling with epoxy will give any long term stabilisation. Somebody may be able to use them for small turned parts. Good for the fire I'm afraid.
wdwerker
Include the word " rustic" in your ad ! Some spalting is evident, that's the dark streaks.
RichardA
Spalting by the way is the start of rot.
Woodenskye
I don't want to sound harsh, but really all you have is a couple of hours of kindling in a fire pit. The return $$ would most likely not be worth the effort to sell.
Keggers
Not meaning to be harsh, but they look like firewood to me. I don't see any value in either piece.
