Tom King
Thanks for that! I liked it enough just glancing through it that I want a copy of the book. Found it on Amazon. When I was in Elementary School, we had a project to find as many different kinds of Oak trees as we could, requiring to collect a leaf of each, and put them in a book. My Mother probably still has mine stored away somewhere. I only found something like 14, but my best friend, who is now a Scientist, found about double as many as I did. https://www.amazon.com/Field-Native-Species-Eastern-America/dp/1470112361 I thought this first sentence in the commentary under White Oak was pretty applicable to this thread-copied and pasted: White oak is one of the most important species in the white oak group. I didn't get down as far as the Red Oaks, in my first reading of the pdf book, but I expect the same thing would be said of Red Oak.
