Popular Post pkinneb
Last week at Greg Pennington's school I saw this little jig and thought it was pretty cool so made one when I returned home. Pretty straight forward just a small block of hardwood. I started by cutting a slot about 1/2" deep at the bandsaw the kerf of my blade fit the card scrappers perfectly. Then at the table saw I cut about a 3/4" inch wide dado on the other side keeping it just above the slot in the wood. I would later cut down to final depth with a router plane going just slightly below the slot. I added a 45 degree bevel quick with a handplane and that's it you're ready to sharpen. Then like any scraper process clean up the flats Then with your file and the new jig file the new edge, following up with the grits on the diamond padles Finally add a burr and your good to go I have a veritas jig for a file but always found it a bit clunky and it didn't work with the paddles. When I used this at the school I really liked it and it's really simple to make.
Chet
That is pretty cool. I would think it would also work for a cabinet scraper blade.
