woodworkingmax
Hello everyone, this is my first post. I'm a new woodworker if I can even call myself that I would love to ask a question about buying a table saw. I recently made the mistake to buy a used table saw (http://tinyurl.com/6hbb85x). Then I realize that it didn't had a nice slot for the mitre gauge on both sides of the blade. I'm wondering what do you guys recommend to buy. I can't go for a nice Grizzly or Powermatic Cabinet Saw that cost 1k or more but I was thinking something around the 500$ range that can maybe serve me will with my first steps building furniture. I would love to build this amazing table saw workcenter (http://www.plansnow.com/dn3090c.html) with my new table saw. Thanks.
usacomp2k3
What do you plan on doing with it? Dados? Ripping? Cross-cut? What other tools do you have (Miter Saw, Radial Arm Saw, Band saw)?
woodworkingmax
I have a Miter Saw also but no Radial and Band Saw. I wanted to build a Cross-Cut Sled on it. Mostly it will be use to build some frames, some kitchen cabinets, the workcenter I posted there and with experience more difficult projects
mikepdarr
What do you plan on doing with it? Dados? Ripping? Cross-cut? On a table saw, all of the above would be my guess.
Beechwood Chip
I wanted to build a Cross-Cut Sled on it. Mostly it will be use to build some frames, some kitchen cabinets, the workcenter I posted there and with experience more difficult projects I'd buy the Bosch 4100 in your position. I got mine for about $400 (refurbished, with warranty).
Jerry_in_SD
I would monitor Craigslist (or other classifieds) for your area and look for a used contractor saw.. The older Delta contractor saws in good condition would be a good choice. There are a bunch of brands. I would stay away from Ryobe, most low end Craftsman, Skil (don't know if they make a TS), Black and Decker, Central Machinery (Harbor Freight brand). For $500 (should be less) you can pick up a very nice saw that you can use for years. My 2 cents...
woodworkingmax
Thank you for your recomendations. I'll take them in account and I will have my eyes open for a contractor saw.
