treeslayer Posted June 2, 2025 Report Posted June 2, 2025 Bought this because it’s supposed to dry fast, I’ve wiped it off let it dry for 2 hrs. 1 hr, 1 day and 3 days, used ARS and Watco on all pieces and every time the rag or brush turns black with stain that’s not dry, Sherwin Williams says it’s the varnish or oil or me, I think that’s BS, any thoughts? 1 Quote
Chet Posted June 2, 2025 Report Posted June 2, 2025 The only thing I could think may be possible is that the ARS or Watco is softening the stain and that is why it is ending up on your applicator. Having said that, it shouldn't do that so I think that the problem is on SW's end and appear to be to lazy or unconcerned to figure out what is really going on. You probably aren't a high enough volume customer for them to be real carrying about the problem. Quote
treeslayer Posted June 2, 2025 Author Report Posted June 2, 2025 Yeah I think it’s just that they don’t want to deal with it, their test in the store was to put some stain on a stir stick, dry it with a blow dryer and spray lacquer on it then dry again with the blow dryer and proclaim see no problem Quote
Popular Post JohnG Posted June 2, 2025 Popular Post Report Posted June 2, 2025 Product information I have been able to find online states that any topcoat must be spray applied. You might be able to get away with a wiping/brushing topcoat if you spray a light seal coat of shellac. Of course, try it on a test piece first. 2 1 Quote
