We are in the west side of the valley so it pretty much missed us. But we get our share of nasty dust storms every year. Especially at the old house where its even further out, we would get nailed all the time. The first time we saw one it was pretty freaky.

Wow, that pictures is incredible. I did not know it get that worse!!! I can hardly believe that some one can survive in that dust bowl. I look like an pyroclastic flow from a super volcano.:o

Here we go again! I took these pictures just a few minutes ago (6:20 PM MST on July 18). In the second one, the leading edge of the storm hadn't yet reached where I was, but some lights and buildings less than a quarter of a mile away were totally obscured.

I get the fun first since I'm 1/4 mile from the southern edge of town. When that storm hit, it was weird how the whole house was filled with a rusty gold light from the particulate reflections. I was working on the second floor in the den and could just make out the ridge of my neighbor's house. And to think, the weeds in their yard likely significantly damped the storm.
