jtooley75
Do you have to protect the rails on a sliding miter saw to prevent rusting like you do on a table saw top? I just bought a new one which is an upgrade from a non-sliding model.
dcustoms
For the most part they are all nickle plated or something similar and I have never seen one rust. I would just suggest to follow the manufacture recommendations. However a product called Boshield T-9 works great on any metal surface to protect it. duckkisser
i cant see how it would hurt and as long as it will not hurt the metal cant see why not. if you find out that waxing the metal is some how bad let us know.
jtooley75
Well, I don't think I will wax it just to do it. I just wasn't sure if it was a good idea or not or if anyone has ever done it for rust protection. Thanks.
Dyami Plotke
I had mine in a humid garage for a few years. I never did anything to protect the rails and I never noticed any rust or wear on them.
Dave's Not Here
Waxing certainly can't hurt and it will help some in retarding sawdust build-up which in turn will make the rails slide smoother.
