cowchaser
One of the projects that I am looking forward at doing will involve tapered legs. How best to do this other than a taper jig. I see some on the market or would it be best to build my own from wood. Any input on this subject? Any plans floating around out there that are free by chance? Thanks for any help Dustin
Vic
Here ya go, Dustin. I'm not sure if this is a member's only jig. http://www.finewoodworking.com/pages/wvt115.asp
Frank Speyerer
Dustin, I Googled "taper jjig" and came up with this simple plan. http://woodworking.about.com/od/woodworkingplansdesigns/ss/TaperingJig.htm
cowchaser
Those are both very interesting jigs and both look like they will do the job. I think one Vic posted maybe a little much for my beginner mind to grasp or I missed some of the instructions. Will look at them both again though. Thanks guys. Vic
Dustin, Marc made one in one of the Guild build videos for the Shaker table. Again, one of the big advantages of the Guild!
PaulMarcel
Dustin, Charles Neil has a project video where he'll walk you through a taper jig. It also happens to be the best jig in my mind because it keeps your hands far from the stock (Rockler must have agreed; many months after the video came out, they had a 'new' taper jig that looked pretty similar). Here's the video and the project PDF that explains it all in words as well.
