The plywood I used has to be the crappiest I have ever encountered. That dark strip along the bottom where the stain got absorbed more than the rest is weird - never saw that kind of behavior before. Also, as the laser engraved, it was set to a bit too high a power and burned clean through the veneer which exposed a strange color underneath - that's really why I stained it at all. Normally that would just show up as black where the laser burns the wood. Anyway, it's a gift box that may daughter is giving to her boyfriend so it's fine.
