suiciedchild
I was visiting my sawyer buddy and he gave me a block of cherry, it is a 13" cube. Has some hard checking about 2" in from the outside , got it coated with wax now to try to stop it from getting worse. Looking for suggestions or ideas on what to do with it. Chris H
Re-saw it and make two or three large bowls. You could hollow it and make it into a massive vase. As for the checking, that should reduce once you have knocked the corners off. If not, resharpen, and try again. It also could relate to the grain direction if you mounted the long grain vertically. wdwerker
Weigh it on a fairly accurate scale. Record the date and weight, when it quits changing then you can think about using it. Once you start roughing it out do the same thing, weigh it and wait for it to stabilize.
