Mzdadoc
Not sure the term for it (quill) The shaft that comes down that houses the chuck moves maybe 1/8th" It doesn't stay true. I've had the press less than a year and bought it on Amazon. Should I see about returning it or is there an adjustment?
Tpt life
Many are friction fit. Try a wood block and mallet tap to reseat it.
wdwerker
Good Question ! Haven't had to use Jet service or parts much so I wish you luck !
Mzdadoc
C That's not the part moving. It's the keyed shaft that houses it.
skiback46
I bought one of those a few years ago. I noticed (new/unused) it had about an 1/8" movement when fully extended, and a little over a 1/32 when the quill was fully in the housing. I exchanged it for a new one, and within a month the replacement had the same problem. After that I returned it for a refund. On the old ones you could tighten the quill housing, or replace the bearings....but I didn't want to do that on a brand new tool. Hopefully its still within warranty. dwacker
Which one do you have? 1/8" is a bunch look for a loose set screw.
Dan S
Which one do you have? 1/8" is a bunch look for a loose set screw.I agree with this, an 1/8" sounds like something is broke, missing, or in really bad need of adjustment. Mzdadoc
There is a set screw with a lock but that came loose. Whew! I really like this drill press.
