mrrhode04
So I am getting married in September and I have a hand full of different projects that I have to get done so I figured I would start this thread to show them as I start to complete them. I will update this as I get them done. Right now the project list consists of 5 little boxes, 1 cutting board, 1 arbor, 1 card box, 250 name tags (small branches sliced thin) and 1 Gary Rogowski Jewelry box. As of right now I have the cutting board mostly done, just need to add the feet when they get here. Also have one of the small boxes almost done, I figured I would build one and get the approval from the boss and then batch build the other four. Here is the cutting board and and the first box. Both of these were made from wood from a new wood supplier. The box is made from cherry that I got for $2/bdft and the cutting board has the same cherry with ash and walnut that I got for $3.25/bdft. So far I am really happy with the wood and quality of it, I will for sure be going back to get more.

mrrhode04
Yeah I originally bought the cherry for cutting boards only (one for a thank you and the other two to sell.) but after I seen that I figured what the heck I can make a box top out of that. ..Kev
Those look great! Looks like you have a lot to do and a short time to get there.
mrrhode04
Thanks, yeah I have a few things to get done. Once I start making the little boxes those will go fast. I think there is plenty of time to get things done as long as people stop asking me for help.
wtnhighlander
Cool stuff! I'd like to see one of those name tags when they are done, sounds like a neat idea.

mrrhode04
Well got the big box done this past week and the person that received it absolutely loved it. He also help with this ice cream scoop, my brother broke my cheap plastic one so I decided that I would make a better one out of apple wood. I am working on the last small box and hopefully have that done soon so then I can start on the card box and arbor.

mrrhode04
Thanks, there was other plans for it but once I cut it and had all the pieces next to each other I decided to leave this one the way it is and maybe the next one I will do what I had planned for this one. I made this one out of Walnut, Cherry and Ash.

mrrhode04
Hahaha yeah it is a little different than the norm here but seeing how our wedding is at a barn I figured this would the style a little better. All I have left is the card box.
mrrhode04
Well the wedding is done and it was a great day. One of the neatest gifts we got was from my dad, which is odd because he usually doesnt put much effort in to gifts but this is something new his company is getting in to. He used a sand blaster to make this sign.

mrrhode04
So what would everybody recommend for a finish on both the sign that is sand blasted and the slab that has the writing on it?
