Jim DaddyO
These are going to different people as gifts. There are a few videos and write ups on my blog and You Tube channel. Make from ash with a touch of walnut I added at the last minute as a lid lift. I like that I managed to get the grain to wrap around the boxes. The hinges gave me some grief as I installed them before finishing, then removed them for finishing, and found out after when I tried to reinstall them that they are not consistent in height and hole spacing. So I had to play "musical hinges", trading them around until I got the tops fitting right again. A fun build with a finish of BLO and bees wax.
wtnhighlander
Very nice, Jim! Your oil & wax finish has a very natural look to it. How is the 'tactility'? ( I probably just made that word up ) Similar feel to danish oil?
Coop
Really neat looking boxes. How did you cut the box joints?
Jim DaddyO
Well, they "feel" really nice in the hand, if that is what you mean. Smooth, but you can still feel that it is wood. I cut the box joints on my table saw with a jig I made from Shop Notes (I think, there is a video in my You Tube channel). Thanks Edited December 2, 2015 by Jim DaddyO
