CessnaPilotBarry
Nice job, Eric! Both the work and the journal! You've inspired me to journal my next build.
Eric.
Sweet! Look forward to it! Wish everyone would do it now and then. It is a bit of a PITA sometimes, stopping to take pics and what not, but it's pretty satisfying to document and look back on the progress from raw lumber to finished product. Freddie
Agreed Eric. I have an album of over 70 pictures from when I built the cradle. It's so neat to see pictures of the 20bf of african mahogany when I first got them all the way through joinery, assembly and finishing. G S Haydon
Nice job, Eric! Both the work and the journal! You've inspired me to journal my next build. Good Work eric, progress is swift and quality is high (which I have come to expect from you). When I have build worthy I will try a journal. Eric.
Looking back now, I realize the real problem with the solid door is that it's overlaid, which makes for such a boring front. Had I inset this door, the exposed sides would make for some visual interest and break up the monotony. But I wanted to put a couple drawers in the bottom, so an overlaid door will be better for that. I left the case sides just slightly revealed, maybe 1/16", to leave a shadow line. I think it works, and I'm happy with this. No inlay necessary...I'll save that for another project. Time for some drawers.

Eric.
Thanks Freddie! I couldn't help it...I had to drench this thing in oil. Shazam! It's far from dry, so if you see some weeping in the pics...

wdwerker
It oozes Krenovian elegance . I can imagine the silky feel of the wood. Well done!
Eric.
Thanks fellers! It oozes Krenovian elegance . I can imagine the silky feel of the wood. Well done! That's the look I was hoping to achieve. The colors make it a little loud to be authentically Krenovian. I may be a little more subtle with the next one. I'd like to build one on a stand eventually, too. Still need to finish this one first.
