Irvingj76
Does anyone have a good plan for a simple table and chair set for children? I was thinking on using plywood for a more "modern" look. Any ideas?
Guest Trace
I have made several of the CHILDS TABLE AND CHAIRS, catalog #KF5, from The Windfield Collection for the great neices and nephews. It is a simple but very functional design. It lends itself to just about any wood or plywood. The plans are easy to read and complete. I traced them onto butcher paper, then put them on pieces of 1/4" plywood with contact cement. After cutting and fitting the pieces that are not basically rectangles, I have an easy time laying out the parts. Their catalog can be acquired at www.thewindfieldcollection.com. sw1
I made this awhile back with 3/4 ply and pocket screws. I used cheap BORG plywood and hit it with a propane torch. If I made it again I would probably use 1/2, because it would be lighter. It is super sturdy though, I have sat on it, used it as a step stool and I weigh about 250. PaulMarcel
That's a cool effect, sw1! I've burned/charred hardwood before for the color and exposing grain, but in this case the whole effect was color! I'll tuck that away in my memory for use later, thanks!! Domer
Jeff Miller has a book about children's furniture that is pretty good. Domer
