Llama
Sorry for the long title I have a Ridgid 12" SCMS, and I made a quick stand for it but it just gets in the way. I'd like some options for this thing I'd rather make a stand than buy one, but buying is an option if its better. Thanks!
rodger.
I bought the ryobi stand for my 10 inch bosch slider. Works really well, and it was 99 dollars I think. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-Miter-Saw-Stand-A18MS01/100397569#.UgVg78u9KSM It would be hard for me to make something better for less than 99. PaulMarcel
Are you wanting a mobile stand or stationary? I put mine in a flip-top table that is convenient because I get the horizontal surface back when the saw is stowed. Here's the info and video on it: http://www.halfinchshy.com/2010/05/disappearing-miter-saw-stand.html
..Kev
Are you wanting a mobile stand or stationary? The answer to this question is key.. I used 2 stock unfinished (aka junk) big box store cabinets and added the shelf for the saw between them.. This isn't the best pic but, it you're looking for something like this, I'll grab some better pics for you..
Llama
I have a small shop, so a mobile unit may not work because I'd have to put it somewhere. A fixed unit is a good idea, but I'd like it to do something else too.
pghmyn
A modification of something like this but for tools?
Byrdie
Reminds me of the dry cleaners or a coat check.
Indy Cindy
I just bought a mobile unit for my Makita sliding miter saw. I need to wheel my saw out of the garage to use it, sawdust is the big concern. http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-32-1-2-in-x-60-in-Rolling-Miter-Saw-Stand-DWX726/202935041#.UgWXQBzD-mc It works very well, raises and lowers easily, stands upright with the saw attached for storage, wheels around very easily. And it frees up a lot of bench space which is important for me as my shop is 1/2 of a 2 car garage.
Llama
I like that! I've been thinking about one like that. How sturdy is it in use?
Indy Cindy
I literally just bought it, assembled it yesterday, so I haven't used it yet. It is heavy and feels very sturdy, gets good reviews. Even though it is heavy, even more so with the saw attached, it is easy for me to maneuver around, and raise and lower.
