trz
So, I have this older mobile base which came from HF and just decided to use it under my BS. First time since I've ever used it but, it's probably 15 yrs. old. Problem is it doesn't steer worth a crap! When I try to turn it wants to tip and just generally doesn't want to go where I would like it to. Is this typical for this kind of MB or is there something amiss? Tpt life
This is usually an indicator of a few things. Small casters need perfectly flat surfaces. I assume your floor is less than perfectly flat. Steering with some casters is always awkward at best. It gets worse if you are at or above the rated weight capacity. Also, bandsaws are top heavy. You need to find a way to guide closer to the bottom if at all possible.
Coop
And the fact that your back wheels don't swivel make it a little harder to navigate. The stand looks pretty sturdy. I would at least buy a new set of back wheels. Or, if you plan on moving the bs often, like Shaffer suggested, get a stand with larger wheels. Just MO. cabinfever
I have the same saw, but I just put casters on it. There are already holes for them. It sits a little high though, I'll make a base cabinet for it eventually which will also add some storage.
