Ronn W
Hi All, I have been participating in the forum for a few months but never properly introduced myself. My woodworking started some 30 years ago but then a family happened and a career and my shop disappeared. Finally in 2010, I got inspired by the cabinet maker that did our kitchen - awesome craftsmanship and I cut my basement office in half to create a 10' x 15" shop. Then last year, I retired from my one man structural engineering firm and donated the rest of the basement office to my shop. Now I have a decent 20' x 15" space that is gradually filling up with my toys. I made all of my workshop cabinets, and storage and my favorite project date an all maple split top work bench that can be broken down if it ever has to be moved. My projects include various tables, benches, cabinets, vanities, picture frames, boxes, and scroll saw work. I like arts and crafts and mission style. I enjoy inlay work. I have had 2 of projects published on TWW site a couple of years ago, "Ronn's Coffee Table with compass Inlay" and "Ronn's Garden Bench" I try to include a new skill in each project. My current project (a keepsake box with bubinga veneer and maple trim) includes my first shot at veneering and my first attempt at a high gloss polishes\d finish. I am making a practice finish board right now so that I can learn all the steps to get the finish I want. For future project I want to start working more with curves and shapes other than rectangles. Most of my projects are my own designs inspired by things I see. When I am not in the shop I am with my 2 rescued dogs and competing in dog agility. When I am not doing that there is always that Honey-do list. I would be interest in connecting with other woodworkers in the Minneapolis area. Great forum. Quality posts. Sounds like you are a pretty experienced woodworker, would love to see pics of the buninga box when it's done!
