Popular Post comp56
the Ridgid oscillating sander seems to be a pretty common, I've had mine for about 3 years and the biggest gripe i have is the stock dust collection. I figured it was time to try something with it, don't get me wrong it has paid for itself 3 times over so i'm not worried about the warranty on it. Here is a video of what I did, I'm happy with the results it sucks way better than before.........

wdwerker
I'm gonna try that soon ! Great little sander but the dust collection is dismal on the stock machine.
lighthearted
I am actually going the other way --adapting it for my festool hose.
wdwerker
I got an adaptor for my Festool hose a few years ago. Not much better than a 2 1/4 shop vac hose. But if you don't have the ability to hook it to a 4" hose dust collector then the HEPA filter in a Festool vac will help on that end. The placement and size of the intake holes in the original Ridgid machine are part of the problem.
bleedinblue
I'll have to look for it in a bit, but I saw a YouTube video of a guy building an enclosure that surrounds the business end of the belt for this thing. I need to do one or the other for sure.
drzaius
Nice mod. I built a shroud around the belt on mine that works very well. That is, until it's removed to use the spindle. Then there's dust everywhere. If I add your mod it should be just about perfect.
