Ltoddv
What's the best hand saw to make long curved cuts in plywood?
bleedinblue
If a bandsaw isn't an option, a coping saw and a lot of patience I'd guess. I'd even opt for a jigsaw first though.
Ltoddv
I'll probly go with a jig saw. I thought about a coping saw but don't know how the arm would follow the blade in the gap?
Popular Post Eric.
I'd rather shove bamboo shoots under my fingernails than cut ply with a coping saw.
Jim Harvey
There were hand saws designed to do this. https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/david-stanley-auctions/catalogue-id-srdav10002/lot-fe8063c6-4200-440f-8e4f-a3f70159d694 I've never seen one in the wild. Tpt life
That reminds me of keyhole saws which are basically manual recip saws. https://www.google.com/search?q=keyhole+saw&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari
aengland
Gosh, I could just send you a couple of my self-sharpened hands saws that produce lovely curved kerfs with no effort at alll.... bow saw is my favorite for cutting thinner plywood. I use my Bosch jigsaw for thicker cuts, and it helps me make errors of cutting much faster.
Popular Post jmaichel
I consider myself more of a hand tool user than and power tool user and I can tell you with 100% certainty that I would not want to cut curves in plywood by hand. Jigsaw all the way!
Gilgaron
A compass saw is the appropriate hand tool... but I'd vote jigsaw like the others.
Ltoddv
Thanks for all the advice! I'll keep a jig saw on the bench in case I lose patience but I'm going to try the compass saw first.
