The blades have arrived.

In the 2nd picture you can see the long tooth to keep the cut clear, it's not the blade I ordered but I'll give it a test out anyway , has anyone here used them before ?

It's minus 17c at the moment so I'm not going out to the workshop today, it's going to be plus 9c by Tuesday ;).

The shoe is generally placed near the end of the slider, and when doing a rip you slide the wood to the shoe and it acts like a clamp, to hold the board down as you cut.  If you look at the picture, the angle allows for different thickness of stock.
