Scott Meggison
I recently picked up what I believe to be a Zenith 24" jointer plane at an estate auction. It has a corrugated bottom and is 3" wide. The only makers mark I can find is on the blade. Other Zenith plane pictures I found online had a makers mark on the side of the body. Is anyone familiar with this make? Some sources indicate it was made by Sargent. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for you help, Scott
RichardA
I'm curious. Why did you buy the plane? I don't know anything about the brand, but I can't come up with any reason to own that size with the exception of showing it off. A plane that size is to much for most to work with, even if it were top of the line.
Scott Meggison
It was there and the price was right. I'm a bit of a collector of odd tools. I didn't have one like it.
wtnhighlander
Perfectly good reason, and a nice tool! No info to share about that make & model, but it truly is a beast. About the size of a Stanley #8, it seems. Must be pretty rare, a Google image search of the logo turned up nothing.
Jim Harvey
I have a Zenith 5 sized plane that clearly has the Sargent name milled off the casting right behind the front knob.
Barron
As the owner and user of a no.7, I can say its nice to have a long plane at times. It wouldn’t be my first plane, but there is no need to apologize for having one.
