Denver_Dan
Hello: I'm ia hobbyist in the Denver area and looking for sources of "rough' lumber so that I can save some money and use my 15" planer. It seems like for the searching I've done, rough and planed lumber are priced similarly. Any advice/guidance greatly appreciated. wtnhighlander
Similar situation with a couple of suppliers I found here in Tennessee. Rough or planed, close to the same price. I prefer rough, as it is thicker, and I can surface just prior to use, normally ending up with more than 3/4" from 4/4 rough. Pre-surfaced boards are around 7/8, and may have moved before I get them, so require jointing & planing again to get flat. That ends up giving me boards < 3/4" thick. The only reason I go to the place that pre-surfaces is because they are open Saturdays.

wtnhighlander
*rasing hand* Hello, @thewoodwhisperer, aren't you a "Denver area folk"? I can't imagine a better source for an answer!
Mark J
Might be better to try and reach Marc directly through The Wood Whisper web site.
Chestnut
Marc is sponsored by Austin Hardwoods so you'll get that for an answer for sure. Another good source for lumber is find your local woodworking guild and ask them. They may have discounts or will offer other opportunities you wouldn't normally get, like buying wholesale.
