Popular Post Chestnut
Not a lot of detail here as this was a quick 1 week project. Megan has been requesting a seat for our laundry room since I floated the idea a year ago. It became a bit more important now that she has to navigate a growing pregnant belly. The inspiration was found somewhere by Megan, it was simple strait forward and looked like it could be fun, spoiler it was. In the folded state it almost entirely sits underneath the countertop over hang. This is preferable as this space gets used when we go in and out of the garage. When we remodeled our laundry room a space was left here for this purpose. I used a brass rod that was polished to lower friction. The seat folds down quite nicely. The leg assembly is pinned with hex cap screws. I drilled holes in the seat and tapped them with threads. The back slats are held by a piece of cherry to match the cabinets.... I didn't think that the cabinets had changed color that much already. I figured I'd also share my detailed plans, that I deviated from pretty quickly on. The top 4 lines are crib notes. My plans have ended up on plywood more often than not lately.
Mark J
Looks doubly useful. I bet that ends up being a landing spot for a couple of bags of groceries as you unload the car.
legenddc
Looks awesome! I can see that holding the little one's car seat until they grow out of the one you carry.

I bet that ends up being a landing spot for a couple of bags of groceries as you unload the car. The grocery landing area is 3 feet to the right of the pictures so not much ends up there. The person that unloads the groceries also adamantly insists the bags be placed on the floor directly in front of the fridge. I don't understand why, I don't ask questions, I just do as I'm told. It will be the landing spot for a laundry basket. 3 hours ago, legenddc said: Looks awesome! I can see that holding the little one's car seat until they grow out of the one you carry. That's a good idea I'll have to try and remember that.
