Popular Post gee-dub
Not a woodworking hand tool but a hand tool none the less. I just realized how long these little cutters have been in my life. They have nipped many a brad or nail, snipped wire flush, and I must admit . . . . even been used as a tiny hammer now and then over the years. Funny. As I get older the sheer duration of my use of a tool hits me now and again.
BillyJack
Actually a woodworking tool. Not a cabinet builder out there that doesn't have a pair in his tool box for pulling nails and staples from cabinets...
Tom King
I have several different sizes of them, and they have pulled some number of thousands of fasteners. There is a custom pocket in my toolbelt that holds a 6" pair. Those are Channelocks, and have been in there for some number of decades too. I have a Snipex that is the only Snipex tool that I don't like. The angle of the jaws is not the best for pulling nails, but it is a good close nipper. My favorites are 8" Klein. BonPacific
I have a pair of these, but honestly I find myself reaching for them pretty rarely if I need to remove anything. I usually go for a tack puller (image below if anybody is unfamiliar) or an icepick first. For a stray brad head I prefer sinking it with a nailset rather than trying to flush trim it. Tom King
You can walk out long nails with the nippers, and pull finish nails through the back of something so removing the nail doesn't mess up the face side. That's what we use them for most of the time.
