TomInNC
I am working on some cabinets, and somehow I managed to glue a piece a trim in a spot where I need to put an applied panel. The trim is glued directly to the cabinet box, which is made out of 3/4 ply. Any suggestions on how to salvage this? Since I will be covering this side of the box with an applied panel, I'm not that concerned with any minor damage from removing the trim. Is this something I should use a multitool for? JohnG
What glue did you use? Heat and moisture might loosen it enough to peel it off.
TomInNC
I used Titebond 3.
Tpt life
If you don’t need the trim, I plane then sand. If it is huge, disregard that comment.
curlyoak
Or hit it with a chisel...
Popular Post TomInNC
I tried the heat gun for about 10 minutes. The trim piece was 3/4 ply, and I don't think the heat was penetrating enough to soften the glue. In lieu of setting the cabinet on fire, I did bust out a chisel and pry the trim off. There was some minor damage to the outer ply of the carcass, but since I'm putting the applied panel there anyway, that's a trivial fix. Lesson learned: no more trying to do woodworking in between innings of playoff baseball.
