Popular Post oldman_pottering
but................this one is the correct size and I'm fairly happy with the end result. The very last picture shows the bottom of the box being slightly out of square, you can see the difference in the way the bottom section doesn't fit as neatly as it should. The top of the box however was good, I'm not sure how the top can be square but the bottom wasn't ( it was only a matter of a mm though) Pictures show a sharpening stone inside, I'm going to give this to my son and hope he will be able to keep it for many years The timber used is a left over piece of Merbau decking <google> Merbau is a South East Asian rainforest hardwood that is also known as Kwila.</google>
wtnhighlander
That is a lovely box! Your son will never forget that gift, I'm sure.
gee-dub
Wonderful material and workmanship. I am overdue to make a few boxes. I can always tell when I have a pile of scraps that are big enough for box parts. I have found it good to have a few stuffed away in a closet for "last minute" gifts throughout the year.
Mark J
Pretty box, and I don't see the flaw you describe. Does your son do woodworking, too?

Thanks very much, I hope he does look after it ( fingers crossed, he's not much of a keeper) On 2/20/2024 at 10:51 PM, gee-dub said: Wonderful material and workmanship. Thanks mate, if you look at the last photo you can see the gap between the bottom and piece and the rabbet is closer on one end. No, my son has no interest in woodwork ........yet On 2/21/2024 at 1:56 AM, William R said: I like it. Coop
Very well done! Some bottoms are attractive and some are meant to hide flaws!
