ryanthefloyd
My wife is wonderful. She schemed with my family and got me a 22" bevel up jointer plane from Lee Valley and a Pax rip handsaw. What are some of the best woodworking related birthday presents you've gotten?
petersb
Woodworking presents are great, aren't they? I got a Porter Cable dovetail jig for my birthday a few years back. I thought that it was the greatest thing ever, at the time. I have hardly used it. I haven't used it on an actual project, only practice pieces. I had a 10" compound miter saw and my Dad bought me one of the laser guides for it, that was a very useful. I also got a moisture meter for my last birthday, from my Dad also. I think I will get him a KREG bandsaw fence for Fathers day this year. Two birthdays ago, my wife bought my two rifle scopes that I had been wanting. These were a total surprise and my best ones so far, even though they are not woodworking related.

Actually, those scopes come in handy when you're trying to fell one of the more skiddish rare trees that would run if you tried to get close to them with an axe: shoot it from a distance and then chop it down. MikeHill
Last year I got one of those Incra measuring thingys and one of those tilt boxes with the magnetic base that tell you what angle you're at. Of course I had to pick them out and give them to my wife so she and the kids could give them back to me. So it wasn't a surprise but I'm still enjoying the goodies. flairwoodworks
A magnetic pick-up tool. It's something that always seemed too gimicky for me to buy but it;s saved my bacon more times than I can count.
joestyles
14" band saw was nice. I would have to say the best was for Christmas a hitachi 14volt lithium ion impact and drill combo. I use the impact driver tons it is a real nice tool for people who are learning to drive screws.
