simeond
This was an involved project to build a small school library. There are two walls of 8' bookcases (with a desk), one wall with "reading nooks" and pull-out magazine storage, and a final wall with a storage cabinet (for games beacuse they do afterschool care int he library) and study carrols... On the wall with the reading "nooks" we also constructed a two-tier carpeted platform. The idea is you can toss around a bunch of pillows and the kids can lounge and read or listen to the teacher read... One of two full walls of shelving. Cherry face-frames, cherry-stained birch shelves. Dado construction: Wall of reading nooks. Each nook has two internal shelving units and inbetween each are display cabinets which pullout for magazine storage: A closer look at the pull-outs: In front of the reading nooks is a two-tiered double/curved platform, for kids to lounge on... The third wall holds four study carrols and a storage cabinet (the carrolls are built around the heating units, which explains the metal mesh): The final wall, which is mostly bookcases, also contains a desk from the "librarian"/teacher: Any and all comments are welcome!
duckkisser
dude you make secret areas you know the kids are going to love that only one thing is wrong with it. the secret areas should be only be opened if you turn a candle stick or if you pull on a book. i love it and would want a set like that for my house...............if i had a house

Vic
Very well done! A classic and modern library. That had to be a lot of work. How long did it take you? I'm sure the community values it very much.

LousyNventR
The project wss in three phases; the shelves, the nooks and platform, and then the study carols. Each phase was about 3 weeks. Simeond came up with the design while I told him why his ideas were dumb or why they wouldn't work. So, despite my beslt effortsl to help, this what we came up with. Suggested pricings for this project would be welcome.
