bmchan
I am looking to buy some 10/4 hardwood and every Google search starts off with Home Despot and goes downhill from there. Does anyone have a recommendation for a source in the region that ships?

bmchan
http://www.bellfores...ampaign=ad+link I ended up here. The website made it easy to order a QS 6/4 FAS board. I'm making a hand plane with Scott Meeks (online course) so my choices were limited for material. Thanks.

CessnaPilotBarry
As John mentioned above, MA, CT, and NH, are LOADED with decent sources. I can personally vouch for the first three.
RenaissanceWW
I started up Hardwood to Go as a separate company from my day job where I am the marketing director of a wholesale lumber company. We buy a lot of material from the wholesaler and others like it and see it at great prices. Kinda like the outlet store model since we are buying overstock, over runs, and "defects". I'm not the place to buy crazy exotic stuff but rather the material that is more commercially in demand. That being said, I sell by the board and ship nationwide. I'll also do custom orders if there is something you need that isn't listed on the web site, http://hardwoodtogo.com.
Jfitz
Sorry Shannon, I didn't have Hardwood To Go in my bookmarks on my iPad - but that has now been corrected!
RenaissanceWW
I should mention that J. Gibson McIlvain, my actual employer, has opened a retail facility in Danielson, CT. It is almost on the RI border. http://www.mcilvain.com/ctlumber/
Jfitz
I should mention that J. Gibson McIlvain, my actual employer, has opened a retail facility in Danielson, CT. It is almost on the RI border. http://www.mcilvain.com/ctlumber/ That's good info! No prices on the website though. That's less than an hour from where I work, so I'll add that to my list of possible HW sources. I see that there is "at least 1 truck a week running there from our headquarters in Maryland." Does that mean it'd be somewhat easy to tap into special requests from the MD inventory?
jHop
I should mention that J. Gibson McIlvain, my actual employer, has opened a retail facility in Danielson, CT. It is almost on the RI border. http://www.mcilvain.com/ctlumber/ I know that area.... (not well, but I still know it.) Friend of mine has family out that way, and i visited a couple of times. Guess I'm going to have to visit a couple more!

If we mention Shannon, does the price go up?
TheFatBaron
While it's a little bit of a hike from CT, my two primary sources are Willard Brothers in Trenton NJ and Agincourt in Hillsborough, NJ. Willard Brothers is pricey, but they have really nice stuff, especially for exotics. Agincourt is a small operation, but they have some really nice stuff (even Black Locust, which is a pain to find sometimes).
