The veneers are super thin and anything I can think of would be too aggressive and at $95 a sheet I certainly don't want to burn through it. What would be the best was to get it off. TRBaker Posted November 19, 2013 Report Share Posted November 19, 2013 Just leave it there until you are ready for finishing. You will need to sand the plywood for that anyway and the chalk will come off easy. I always hit plywood with at least 220 grit before staining or finishing and the chalk is never a problem. It can be a real bear to get it all out of the grain! Since you are worried about sanding through the veneer, I would suggest starting with a shop vac, then a stiff bristled brush, then use mineral spirits, then sand if you really have to.
