duckkisser
so i was presented with a symbol for a local group and they asked if i would make this to go on the front podium. I was wondering how i could go about making something like this. does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on the best way to make essentially a sign that looks like this? i had thought to rout out all the lines and letters and then fill them with colored epoxy and colored sawdust then i would not have to sand the depressions smooth. wtnhighlander
I recently made a street sign with similar features. I used a combination of routed recesses and scroll sawn appliques for a 3 dimensional look. Your idea of filling in with epoxy is a good one for this project. Sanding in the recesses can be a royal pain.

mar10
HI Duck What about using a routing templet? The outer ring and inter pocket can be cut by changing the size of the router bushing. The eye of Horus Try tracing the image using carbon paper then routing out with a 1/8” bit. Text on a curve. Pocket out then laminate . Good Luck

duckkisser
Thinking I will make a template out of some mdf I have and rout it out like you said then do the letters and eye by hand.
