RichardA
I've a few hand saws that I've had for a long while, at the moment, they're dull as a butter knife, [ I will be correcting that soon] But they got dull from being moved around over the years and banging into everything in the house, and in the shop. While working on this dresser build, I must have moved them 10 times......Enough with the saw moving awready! So, having a few minutes spare time and some junky cedar laying around and in the way as well, I combined the two and this is what I came up with! The only thing lacking is the french cleat and a wall to hang it on!
jHop
I could help with that... There's a lovely section in my shop right now that could use some attention... and the cedar will help keep the spiders off the wall. (Nice job! are you applying finish, or letting it be aromatic?) Rick A McQuay
Nice, I need to build one. Will cedar corrode tool or spring steel?

Coop
Not too shabby Mr. Richard . Wall space is definitely my problem as well!
nod
I currently have 3 saws in a similar situation - lying on their sides on top of each other. I will be steal..er.. borrowing this idea and putting it to use in the shop. cheers.

RichardA
Nice, I need to build one. Will cedar corrode tool or spring steel? I think, if you're concerned about corrosion from the cedar, you could try lining the cuts with a small leather strip,or instead of using cedar for the saw blades, try oak or poplar or any wood that you're comfortable with! Rick A McQuay
Cedar isn't very common around here so i will use something else but I was curious because I remember you are supposed to use certain fasteners with cedar. - sent via Tapatalk

TerryMcK
It's normally stainless steel that you use with cedar especially used outside to stop rust stains. Shouldn't really be a problem indoors with saw blades though but lining with leather would be a great idea. Also the stainless should really be used with oak outside to stop corroding the fasteners. Mild steel rots quicker and makes oak go black around the holes. Leave a nail on some damp oak and you'll see what I mean.
