Tom Cancelleri
So I was rearranging my shop today and cleaning things up. I moved and relocated my slabs and figured I'd snap a picture. I thought about what I paid for these, and I really lucked out on these. The cherry slab is 18 board feet, 8/4 thick 119" long, live edge on both sides, air dried 25 years. The walnut is roughly 40 board feet 12/4 111" long. Cost: Walnut - $40 for the slab. Went to an auction and they get to this huge slab of walnut. Only 2 people bid on it. I was the high bidder at 40 bucks. Cherry - $36, paid $2 a board foot for the lumber, I should've bought more slabs from the guy. Was a good/bad time to buy lumber. Good because the price was right, bad because I had just bought my lathe and a bunch of other tools so funds were really low.
bgreenb
My knees buckled when I saw those prices. Can't wait to see what you do with them.
Tom Cancelleri
The cherry is up on the chopping block next weekend. Doing laminate floor in my den this week, got some reorganizing to finish up in the shop before the build starts.

Brendon_t
I'm participating in an online only estate and business auction Tuesday. Let's hope I can share the same story of victory

bgreenb
You better journal that build Tom. My shop is mothballed while I clean up newborn poop so I need to woodwork vicariously.
