You're partly right because it's not the farmers who are engaged in the campaign.  It's the cheese producers and the state's abundant bureaucrats.

No, this proves I'm completely accurate.  I've spent 20 years in this state and never even overheard ONE conversation from someone who lives here, talking about California cheese.  We don't care at all.

On the other hand,  cheese is like a comma to Wisconsin.  It feels like it comes up in every conversation. It's the only thing they are proud of.

There's a reason *outside* of California that we see it on TV.

Cheese does give us pause.  Oh, you meant coma.

And that's because?..

Overpopulated and polluted.SF is pretty but a mess to try and get anywhere. LA just seems over-hyped form Hollywood. The areas around the cities are awesome though.

I think part of it is listening to every fake ditzy drama queen talk about moving to LA to become a movie star or a singer just gets really old. There are better reasons to move to cali.

With out San Fran and LA Cali is a great state

Yeah, not so much.  This sounds like it is coming from someone who's never lived here and is basing their opinion on either stereotypes (everyone is a hippy uber-liberal or in Hollywood, AMIRITE?!) or that one time they took a trip to Disney when they were young.  Sure there are some crappy people and places in the Bay and LA, but there are crappy people and places in every town and city everywhere.

I remember when I was moving out to SF from the east coast - everyone I talked to had one of two reactions (no exceptions to this):

  1. Are you gay? (seriously... they actually said this - friends knew I am not but were giving me a hard time, but others actually seemed kinda serious). Just shows this is what people think about...
  2. Wow, I am so jealous, that is an amazing city

I've lived out here over a over a decade, and I will be the first to admit there are some areas and things about the place that can be grating, but overall it is a great place with some amazing natural areas. Oh, and the cheese is ridiculously good, ha ha!

Now don't talk to me about expensive it is... then I just get worked up! ha ha, seriously though, my wallet hurts.

I guess I'll just say that anywhere is what you make it. I've lived all over the states and on 3 continents,  EVERYWHERE sucked on one or more level.

It is my experience that people who talk crap about cali know very little about it, have never spent any time here,  or have some specific reason like it's an unfriendly gun state.   Well,  you can't please everyone.  Don't come here and me and my 2 full gun safes will be totally ok with it.

In California's defense, I'll say this about Missouri:

1) Everything does not give you cancer here.

2) There aren't hippy tree-hugger liberals everywhere here.

3) Despite 1) and 2), it still sucks here, so I'm not so sure the regulations and liberals are actually what make California crappy.  I think that's in non-Californians' heads because they heard it on talk radio.

We do have the Ozarks though, and the Ozarks are awesome.  Without the Ozarks, Missouri would just be Kansas.  Sorry Kansas, you're the worst state in the world. :( California is a beautiful state, and they grow lots of avocados.  I love guacamole.

@Brendon_t, your OP made me LOL.  Hater.

I must apologize i fear you misunderstood me. I don't dislike or hate LA and SF they are jsut my 2 least favorite regions in Cali. When areas like Mendocino and Bishop exist it's hard for me to like a congested city. If i had to pick a city in the US to live in LA and SF would be in the top 10. Death Valley is also SUPER cool.

That being said i could never live in CA, the gun and car laws would basically have me in handcuffs in hours. I concealed carry and both of my cars are modified. I'll come visit, and it's usually 1st or 2nd on my list of places to go when i think about leaving work for a week.

@Eric. Really!? Kansas? I feel like most people hate on my state.

Fully agree here!  Now if I could only find a decent paying job out in Mendocino that doesn't involve growing weed I'd be all set...

Cali does have some sweet spots.  Mammoth is one of my favorite places on earth.  Death valley is a lot of fun and beautiful.

I'm so used to the blanket statement "cali sucks",  I like asking why.  Most people don't have an answer.  If you have a viable answer, chances are,  I'd tend to agree.  There are things that suck her, but it's like anywhere else.  As fun and wholesome as you make it.

@Eric I couldn't agree more.  I love the Ozarks, but again, I'm partial. We overlooked table rock lake.  Not a bad place to be, except for the mosquitos. I'm pretty sure that's the state bird by now isn't it?

I must disagree... Oklahoma sucks so hard is the only reason Texas of still attached to the Union. There is literally nothing but casinos and red colored tornadoes.

Since I'm currently working in Oklahoma, I'll vouch for that statement!

As for LA and Frisco, I'm from there and I'm glad I'm not there any more!
