Kansas John
What is the correct angle to sharpen a "Pig Sticker" mortise Chisel? Should it have a dual bevel?
Brendon_t
I have one that I keep at 25° I haven't messed with any other angles on it but 25 sounded about right to be sharp but still have plenty of metal behind the tip to support the edge. RichardA
I think mine came with a 30* angle, but I've since brought it to 25*, I'd hazard a guess, that either one is okay!
Kansas John
Hey thanks guys. I just bought an old one and it looks like someone thought it was a cold chisel.
Jim Harvey
I'm using a 30 degree primary bevel and hone at 35 degrees. Prying chips out of a mortise will break a 25 degree point..

Eric.
Jim is right...35* is appropriate for mortise chisels. 30* for bench chisels and 25* for paring. These aren't hard and fast rules but general guidelines. FWIW I keep mine at exactly these angles out of convenience. YMMV.
