wtnhighlander
Might help to mention the brand along with the model number! Why turn the commutator? Is the it grooved from brush wear?
conlo
I have an elu 2 hp plunge router made by Black and Decker. The commutator needs to be turned down on a lathe. I cannot remove the bottom housing to be able to pull out the armature
drzaius
Have you established why the commutator needs turning? Consumer grade tools like that are usually worn out by the time the commutator needs turning. A partial short circuit in the armature will cause armature wear, in which case it won't likely be worth repairing.
derekcohen
I have a couple of these Elu routers. In Oz and the UK the are the model MOS177e. The router is nearly identical (except for the dust insert) to the DeWalt DW656. It is likely that you can access spares that way. Robby W
Is the bearing pressed into the housing? Or, if the bearing spun in its recess, it could be that it created a burr that is preventing you from removing it. Maybe a puller of some type would solve the problem. I am saying this without seeing or ever seen the router in question, so my advice may be worth what it cost you.
