wterp
My motor on this unit is going bad needs new bearings and rheostat can anybody tell me where I can either find a new headstock motor or where I can get it repaired to where it's like new? wtnhighlander
Looks like the usual online places are listing most of those compinents as 'obsolete, no longer available'. I would suggest searching for an electrical motor repair shop that is local to you. Chances are good that they will be able to substitute a standard bearing by measuring the old one. The potentiometer / rheostat may take more effort, or a modification to the machine housing to accept a substitute with different physical dimensions. BonPacific
Aside from @wtnhighlander 's advice you might want to keep an eye out for someone parting one of these out on Ebay or elsewhere. The original manufacturer of those lathes was apparently Colovos, if that helps your searches. You might be able to substitute a generic/3rd-party motor for the original, depending on it's specs. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea though.
Tom King
See if there is an electric motor repair place near you. I have a great guy, who is very reasonable. If there is, it will be a Lot cheaper than replacing the motor. Bearings for a motor that size are just a few bucks.
