collinb
Somehow I missed something going through the planer. Now I have a big furrow on the stainless base plate. And it has side ridges that gouge into the wood. Ugly. I'm looking around for just that stainless piece. Can't seem to find one. There are new bases in the $160 range but not just that stainless plate. Any ideas?
BonPacific
This might be the part you're looking for? Nevermind looks like this is for the lunchboxes. Any reason not to just sand and buff out the ridges? How big is the divet? The base plate doesn't necessarily have to be 100% perfectly flat as long as it's not so grooved that pieces going through can dip or get stuck in it. Could pop out the existing base and see how complicated it is. If it's just a simple piece of SS you could probably find a local metal shop/school to fabricate a new one. wtnhighlander
I seem to recall someone else raising this question not long ago. I believe their solution was to file off the burr and buff away any edges that would mar the wood.
Coop
I think the one that @BonPacific referred to IS the one you are looking for.

That’s for the 733/734. But I did spend 20 minutes with coarse then fine sandpaper to flatten it and it seems to be fine. Ran a bunch of pine and no marks. I’ll try a harder piece soon to see if that makes any difference.
