Al Ladd
I've designed and built a small run of what I believe to be the best miter gauge in the world. It combines the best qualities of Woodpeckers recent Autoscale cross cut sled (work is supported at the blade at any angle without having to move a sacrificial fence, and ((necessarily true if that's true)), a stop set to a built-in measuring scale is accurate at any angle), with the 24" cross cut capacity of their Exact-90 miter gauge (of course mine does other angles as well. Along with a completely different approach to pivoting the fence I've also developed a simple effective flip-stop, a fence system based on Euro 20mm series aluminum extrusions, and a steel miter bar you can custom fit to your saw with woodworking tools.
Ronn W
Novel concept on the pivot. Is an indent or similar to return quickly to 90 degress?
Al Ladd
Positive micro-adjustable stops at 90 and 45. Accuracy more like a cross cut sled than any other miter gauge.
Al Ladd
I should also mention that this has been designed so that it can be built using a plunge router with a simple circle jig. It can be built in a deluxe version for under $100, and in a simpler version for under $50. PM me if you'd like more information.
JohnG
What ever happened to your power feeder?
Popular Post Al Ladd
It's available -called the Little Proteus Power Feeder. It got reviewed well by Fine Woodworking Magazine. About 200 of them feeding away around the world! I love mine.... Given how much work I've put into that project, it's been disappointing how few orders I've taken. The feeder is very cool, and I think it there are many niches where it's the best product for the job at any price. I've been unable to get a single popular Youtuber to demo it, and have wasted some serious money sending freebies to those who said they would and didn't follow through. So I'm a glutton for punishment in putting so much work into this new project. I'll have a sled too soon. I find the process of trying to perfect a design, and figure out how to make it affordable and relatively simple for others to make fascinating and addictive. It's really hard for a microbusiness like mine to market against corporate giants, or even relatively small companies with slick ads (and red anodizing). Thanks for asking!
