gee-dub
I was out dumping cardboard in the recycle bin when LOML called that I might want to come and take a look. Around here it's never "if", it's "when". This is the view from my backyard, no zoom. It ran along to the next hill north, some zoom. The choppers came in with buckets. The planes made a couple of dumps of retardant. Sherriffs are driving the neighborhood announcing voluntary evac. With our wind conditions things rarely come down our side of the hill but we get ready anyway.

Popular Post gee-dub
I thought they had it but the wind whipped it up again. Between planes and helos they must've made a dozen drops. Who needs TV?

wtnhighlander
What's out there to burn? That hillside looks pretty bare in the photos.
Popular Post gee-dub
We are in a desert basin area. The low hills are covered with a nice dry layer of scrub. None of it is really large. About 3' max in the tall areas but it burns like a dry carpet. As you get into the higher hills we have pine trees and all the usual pacific coast mountain plants. For example here's an area called The Notch at about 4000 ft. A little higher up things start to look like this. This is near Baldy Village on Mt. Baldy. 3

Popular Post gee-dub
All is well. A lot of effort by a lot of people. No word as to cause yet.
