For the panels and the lid I used a very, very light wood of Japanese origin. Unfortunately I don't remember the name. It's very prone to tear out and the end grain is just awful.

Maybe it was just my board, but that thing is so soft you can scratch it with your nails without much force. I bought it for a frame but ended up using it in shop projects only. It feels like balsa good or something like that.
